Randall Niles Thinks About Atheist Religion

To live, to enjoy my time here, to share my love and experiences with those around me. The purpose of ones life is given definition by their desires and goals, there is no need for a belief in God to feel purpose.
While my universal purpose may be purely to procreate, I do not feel that giving myself purpose is wasteful, especially given the chance to appreciate my time here.

There's a pretty good line of fossils of land animals becoming whales. If that is not a "kind" changing into another "kind" you need to define what a kind is...
You might ignore the fine line of fossils proving how horses evolved their hoofs by saying that they were the same kind since the ancestor looked kind of like a horse. But not so with the whales from land animals.
But don't use fossils to prove evolution - they are great and all but the best evidence is in our genes.

The old religion is egal to science nonsense? Yeah, religious folk finally discovered how weak the base of their faith is, and they try to drag science down to their level. Unfortunately for them, they can't help to reveal in the process how poor their understanding of science is. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bragging, I only possess basic scientific knowledge. They however show no signs of knowledge at all.

They go to theories, dipstick. Then they think of ways to test them. That's not faith. It's science. You got nothing.

For one, not everyone finds the multiverse a good explanation. I for one do not. The aliens-from-far-away theory is also too far grasped for me.
But that and all, why should that be enough of a reason to stick to the Christian (I think you were referring to this one) God of the Bible and not Allah of the Qur'an or the Flying Spaghetti Monster (best deity ever IMO)? Other than that, ulthea has pointed out some good things

I can tell by the way Niles uses a mocking, sarcastic voice when mentioning anything that he disagrees with that he is really open to discovering unbiased truth.
Also, anyone who uses the world gazillions when discussing evolution in a 'serious' manner obviously has no understanding of evolution, cosmological time, biology, physics, etc.

There is a difference (among others) between a real scientist filling in 'gaps' with conjectures or philosophical world views and a Christian (or any other religious person) filling in the 'gaps' with God or Jesus. A true scientist will cling loosely to his conjectures until he can present substantial evidence to support his claims or until he is proven wrong. A Christian on the other hand allows no room for correction, and will always believe that 'God did it' despite having no real evidence.

Wow, way to quote mine, set up straw men, and offer no evidence for your own views. Unimpressive.

Oh god, my head hurts after watching this. As an atheist I'm humble enough to say I don't know where the universe came from and I don't exactly know how life started on Earth. It could have been a god or a natural process. Are you willing to say the same thing? Also, get a dictionary and look up the word religion. Seriously, this video is pathetic. Next time don't get your information on atheists from a Christian source.

@azar24701. My truth? I am a caretaker of Earth and of society. One day I will clock off, and I would like my time here to have made some measure of difference. I would like to pass the job of caretaker onto my children, who will continue to to make their small differences in this world. Life is a relay race, and my emotions, fears and wonder will cease to exist when my brain stops functioning - there will be no after party, nor do I need one to reward me for simply existing.
I might add that I find it nauseating how terribly people mis-understand the evidence for evolution, often using a lack of transitional fossils as an out.
What they fail to consider is the overwhelming evidence in other areas, such as ERV's, homology, "Junk" DNA, Polyploidy, medicine etc etc etc. So trying to claim that lacking one small fraction of evidence undoes this well established fact is purely dishonest.
E_OLUT_ON....we need not fill the gaps to reach a valid conclusion.
