This was one of the first tunes I heard as a kid, which got me excited about drums, so I thought it was an obvious contender for the first tune to be recorded on a Murray kit to let you all hear it!

The song features my friend Hiro, from Japan, on guitar. Please check out his amazing channel:

  • My 8-year-old nephew just got an electronic drum set for Christmas; I plan to send him this video to inspire him.

  • @sonyahannah

That's cool, but don't forget to let him hear the original too!

  • You say the shells are Murray shells, does this mean you made these shells the same way as your stave snare, and if so what type of wood are the shells made of?

Your Stave snare video's have inspired me to try building my own.

Thanks so much for your posts. These drums sound fantastic!!!!

  • @LOUDROWDSTROUD

No these shells are 6-ply Maple shells (8-ply on the bass drum) Same spec as Keller Maple shells.

The snare is a solid Walnut Stave drum.

  • Are those Keller shells with hoops you made or...? Great job as always!

  • @jodgey4 The shells are the same spec as Keller, but made by a different manufacturer. The hoops are Maple ply hoops which I got second hand. I think they are made by Gibraltar.

  • Wow man! You're awesome!!

  • Great job.

Sandy had some Krupa going on.More evident on other cuts.

  • A BARBER'S DREAM!

  • went to school with him. watched him hypnotise lots of people with the drums

  • Youtube comments are to be critical and appraising, so here goes; that performance was remarkable, you played it casual but spot on! Without Sandy Nelson's studio assistance it should have sounded empty, but to the contrary. It came across in crystal clear quality with great stereo separation. Thank you, I enjoyed it.

  • good job

  • Not bad man, I like it. Sandy probably thinks it's okay too! :D
