You never tell a patient " have you ever had a phlebotomy " they are patients unfamiliar with medical jargon!! Also, YOU took too long, his arm was turning completely red. And YOU never fan dry your prep area. And Why would you refer to a dressing as something used on animals, was his arm full of hair, NO. That was a waste.

i dint think its a bad idea to ask patient where they have good veins, ppl arent that dumb and alot of them get stuck alot and know whats going on

You are suppose to tell the patient something along the lines "Hi, I'm going to be drawing your blood today", not "I'm going to do phlebotomy on you"!!! HAHAHA, not every patient knows medical jargon!!! I've actually heard people say, "phlebotowhat?" Hahahahaha ;P

if that person was having a CBC for real the results would be inaccurate due to hemoconcentration... and never ask the patient if they have any good veins because most of them don't know what they are talking about.

NEVER!!! decontaminate the puncture site with the tourniquet on. prolong of the tourniquet might cause electrolytes to be forced from the tissues into the blood; because of the pressure that is exerted by the tourniquet and this might cause erroneous results.
