Since my town Saitama was too hot I decided to run with cool winds in Hokkaido during my summer vacation with my folding bike DAHON. To gain more cruising speed I retrofitted my Jetstream P8 with a NITTO drop bar. It does work.

  • How do you like your bike? I just recently ordered one (can't wait to receive it).. So hopefully you love it!

Has it been reliable for you so far? Any complaints or problems? Would really love to hear your experiences with it.

    Thanks!

  • It comes near to stating the obvious that I satisfied its diversified usage and well-finished joint part drawing a clear line against other folders. I do love its beautility even some one say that front /rear suspention is just a sack of hammers.

  • I use my P8 for commuting everyday and I used to keep champ of signal launch with SRAM quick grip shifter.

I can not make instantaneous speed over 28 mpH due to gear ratio but I don't want to change front gear or I wouldn't be able to move up 10% steep hills with 1st gear.

If you use it for mainly short distance commuting (<6 mile), you need nothing to do.

  • But If you also plan a long distance touring (>3 hours or >10 mile) I recommend you to chage handle bar from flat to drop or bullhorn bar. You'll see how it make a difference on air resistance and wrist numbness. I bet you can keep pace with 700c roadies.

Note that drop bar is superior to burrhorn bar in terms of air resistance, but folded size gets fat.

    Hope you'll enjoy.

  • what is the NITTO drop bar?

  • Nice vid. I went to Japan last month and saw so many bikes on the street.

But i just wonder if you can bring a folding bike into the Tokyo Metro? I get the impression that people in Tokyo subway are very concern and will be bothered to have a folding bike in the train.

  • nice video, id like to do long distance cycling some day

  • very nice man, wish i could do that, i think i will one day. i want to tour across america first, then other countries. you know how to live life!

  • Thanks for sharing. Oh the views in Japan are great. I hope I can visit that country someday.
