Becoming an Empowered Citizen - Cause/Action: Scot Chisholm at TEDxSanDiego 2012

Founder and CEO of StayClassy.org, Scot Chisholm tells his story of raising money for cancer research with a pub crawl, driven by his mother's fight with cancer, to creating a massive technology platform for social fundraising. Scot has us explore the difference between taking action and apathy around a cause. He argues that the reasons for apathy no longer exist. Technology has made it incredibly easy for citizens to organize and create change. The only thing left to do is to choose to take action.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
