I actually beat this game after failing a thousand times and using a ton of continues, only to be told that there was another challenge starting with World 1-1.
PS, yes I am an American.

I found myself shuffling between Mario and Luigi to get through this. Getting used to the old Mario controls over Mario 3's was tough and there are a few places where Mario's no skidding ability comes in handy. Luigi rules this game otherwise.

Dig the Super Mario Frustration reference.
By the way, have you made it past Level 2-2? Because I played this at a friend's house, and just couldn't make this one jump about half-way through the level.
