ENG-Ian Paice's drum solo, recorded live in Tokyo during the only Japanese concert of Purple's world tour,in December 1975.
Purple had a new line-up,with the young and talented Tommy Bolin on guitar.
However, during this show,Bolin's left harm was semi-paralized because of a bad heroin injection.
In fact his sols are not as good as always...
Ian Paice has also a new sound with his new beautiful drum kit.
Ian,did the solo during "Lazy".

  • For a brief period in the 70's, he was using single headed rack toms.

  • Yes,from 1975 to 1976....but the drumset he uses in the solo from 1976's american tour, was used in 1974 to record the album "Strombringer" too...

Ian the best!

  • @livejamm69 nice info i saw the come taste the band tour in detroit with bolin it was pretty good i concert i wil nevr forget player from 9.20 to 11,50-and paice used the silver concert tom kit...but he is bad as hell with the 4 piece set well 1 tom 2 floors but he is and bad azz drummer...all the musicians in deep purple were bad as fuck...this band changed lead singers 3 times and were still cutting out tunes..i dont think any band could do that now and still make it...

  • @PantaZampa

It was also used on "Come taste the band , you can hear the

    concert toms .

    Great drum sound .

  • TErry Bozzio only wishes he was this good on a big kit.

  • @kiketve2 LoL i just said that in the stormbringer rehearsals he used the regular ludwig kit not the silver melodyc LOL

he is my favourite drummer,i met him once in a drumclinic..

  • @shotguy1 hAVE YOU EVER HEAR THE DRUMER FROM EMERSON , LAKE AND PALMER ? THAT IT'S ONE BAD ASS DRUM SET AND DRUMER TOO. NOW THIS GUY JUST GIVE 150 % EVERY TIME EVEN IN THE LATER YEARS STILL. FIT TO JAM

  • @PantaZampa wrong i think, coz i have pictures from the stormbringer rehearsals and he uses his regular kit (the 5 piece ludwig)

  • I knew the story of Tommy Bolin about his paralyzed arm, sounds around the concert using the magic chords.

Tommy even though a talented guitarist I think it was an unfortunate choice for deep purple, in addition to drug problems his style too funky soul has not contributed to the composition of beautiful music.
