Doubters Anonymous -- Part 1
April 20, 2008 ~ Luke 24:1-4

"On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them."

"The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said." Matthew 28:5-6a (NIV)

"If Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins." 1 Corinthians 15:17 (HCSB)

"In (God's) great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead..." 1 Peter 1:3 (NIV)

3 Kinds Of Believers

 Casual

"You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!" James 2:19 (NKJV)

 Convenient

"Because of what Jesus said, many of his disciples turned their backs on him and stopped following him." John 6:66 (CEV)

 Committed

"If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me." Matthew 16:24 (NASB)




The Road To Committed Belief Can Begin With Doubt

1. It's Ok To Have Doubts.

"That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! "Peace be with you," he said. As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! Again he said, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you." John 20:19-21 (NLT)

"One of the disciples, Thomas..., was not with the others when Jesus came. They told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he replied, "I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side." John 20:24-25 (NLT)

2. My Doubts Can Lead To Discoveries.

"And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!" Then He said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." John 20:26-27 (NKJV & NIV)

"You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13 (NASB)

3. My Doubts And Discoveries Can Result In Belief.

"Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." John 20:28-29 (NIV)

 Thomas' belief was committed enough to die for Jesus.

 Is My belief committed enough to live for Jesus?

I love the way you speak this Tongue. Since I first met you on the internet, when I saw your word about '' I give my sadness to God and what Does He give me back ? '' Do you recall that series of yours??

I always think of that particular message, that was the only one I could watch, for youtube for me is not operating well. Comes to me second by second, meaning that, a tape that takes 1o minutes only to me takes an hour!!!

I am trying to watch this tape now, but with struggle.
