  • I'm from Marion. I grew up playing YMCA basketball at the Coliseum in the 70s. I'm so happy that it was saved.

  • You left out 3 excellent old schools all in Terre Haute that all closed in 1971. Wiley(1863-1971), Gerstmeyer (1922-1971) and Garfield (1912-1971), all three had great high school basketball histories.

  • No other state, not KY and not NC, can claim the history and lore of high school basketball like Indiana. Maybe it was because there was nothing else to do, but damn the gyms and schools were great. Sad to see the era pass and the greatness of the state pass. Now history means nothing and schools like Carmel, and North Central's masses and money run past the glories of Jeffersonville, Lafayette Jeff, Anderson, and New Castle. History was made in those schools and communities with character.

  • Pine Village - home of the Pine Knots! West Lebanon still has a gym for use but the school is long gone. Greene twp. Green Aces home is about to fall in. Sits in the middle of a cornfield. Williamsport build a brand new gym for their "Bombers" in 1973. In 1975 they consolidated with Seeger. But the Seeger Patriots play all their home games at Williamsport's gym. Got see the home of the Mecca Arabs! In Parke County. Has 3 columns running down the sideline on each side! Thats it!

  • Great, just great.

  • 0:43: Not even a dial clock scoreboard?

  • You forgot North Side High School's gym in Fort Wayne. Also, Eastside's up in Butler.

  • I played in the Connorsville Bowl back in 1978,,,,and didn't return to Connorsville until until 2007 and I looking for the bowl only to find that I was right across the street in one of offices doing an audit,,,,,,

I never realized that the bowl was part of a junior high

  • @moboiler

You may not beware of it, but the sorry shits at the Anderson school board voted to close the WigWam effective at the end of this school year. Words cannot express how I feel!!!!

  • My school was @ 5:13. Talk about memories! Very well done.
