I use Large Outdoor Garbage Cans... works the same way.. I love spreading out a large tarp, and dumping the entire contents of the can upside down and spread out on the tarp to find all the potato's ! this concept works fantastic! Thanks for posting and sharing with every one.

What's the best way to store seed potatoes for next years crop?
-
@23rdsngwrtr how many would you plant in a garbage can that sized? It sounds like it'll be hilarious trying to get them out. I might try this one.

Good video. I love your dog.

how long from planting to harvest?
-
do you have to feed the potatoes and treat insects or anything?
-
@23rdsngwrtrwe do something similar also. I use food grade plastic 55 gallon drums..and used another above mine to catch and collect water to be a drip irrigation system. compost, few small drill holes at the bottom and spaced along the sides and at the end we got 60 yields of potatoes.

Do you grow them inside without sunshine or do you take the buckets outside?

You look handsome

I have a ton of plant containers from landscaping and tree planting jobs, you just gave me a great idea! they should work right?

Thanks! Will try your method.

@dkim68 ... My sprouts on my potatoes were white, as soon as I planted them they turned green and leafed out fairly quickley.

Cool video. How come other videos tell you to put your potatoes in the sunlight. Also, the shoots coming off the potatoes look white. In other vids they're green. Why is that?

Wow Thanks! I will try that right away!
I did something similar. I saw a video that said, 'cover the stalk totally,' and another that said, 'leave a few inches of stalk above ground.' Well, I covered the plant up completely everytime it grew 8inches or so above the ground. I tended it with loving care for several months. Finally the big day arrived! I harvested all of 10 potatoes!
I think I choked out the plant. So next time I'm going to leave a bit above ground. What a shame...I looked forward to them more than anything else!

@mybrotherkeeper I also have found that covering them completely will at time smother out the plant. And 10 potatoes from a 5 gallon pail is not bad!

What is the cost involved & how much profit is involved in it
rohit950723 1 year ago
@rohit950723 THe cost is about $5.00 for a bucket. As for profit, if your looking to make money either get a whole lotta buckets, or get a nice piece of ground to farm.
