music and lyrics by abie rotenberg

lyrics
Father please tell me
help me understand
who made what surrounds us
the sky and land
the water we drink
the air that we breathe
father please tell me what should i believe
Listen my child
put your trust in me
there is a creator that man cannot see
we owe our existence to no-one but him
b'reishit bara elokim (In the beginning, G-d created)

it's not just a story, a tale that's been told
a fable a myth a legend of old
it's not someone's fantasy, theory or whim
it's what i believe - ani ma'amin

father please tell me I'm asking of you
why am i different, what makes me a jew
how am i to know, the right life to lead
father please tell me what should i believe

listen my child, it was long long ago
we stood by a mountain, one nation one soul
and what we received is our very lifes blood
na'aseh v'nishma, umru k'echad (we will do and we will hear - they said as one)

it's not just a story, a tale that's been told
a fable a myth a legend of old
it's not someone's fantasy, theory or whim
it's what i believe - ani ma'amin

Father please tell me, what does G-d intend
will this long bitter exile soon come to an end
or must we continue to suffer and grieve
father please tell me what should i believe

Listen my child the future will bring
a day when the world knows who's king of all kings
today or tomorrow, i don't need to know
achake lo b'chol yom sh'yavo - I wait for him every day that comes

it's not just a story, a tale that's been told
a fable a myth a legend of old
it's not someone's fantasy, theory or whim
it's what i believe - ani ma'amin

  • @mrpatrickboll You didn't understand my point.

What I said was that the Jewish had and are still separatists (not that is the only religion that does that) offering the Palestinians a "separate" place to live, will keep the conflict going. Sure the Palestinians are also believe in their own mythical creature who they worship, no debate on that. The true is that as long their IQ resides below realizing the God lie, they can't possibly reason enough to solve their problems logically.

  • @Ramiromasters - It's sad that you don't know history. The Jewish people offered a "Palistinian State" in 1947. The "Palistinians" walked away from the offer on the table because THEY wanted it all. Also - G-d commanded them to be seperate from the gentile nations. You are very unequipped to speak on any of these matters.

  • @MrAvraham4 +infinity for that post! I AGREE! עם ישראל חי!

  • I think is that Jews are separatist that got them into trouble. Had they played their cards smart and let the Palestinian live beside them, the huge Jewish majority would had absorbed the small number of Palestinians.

In fact had they mingled with the crowd in Germany, then it would had been hard to pick a escape goat (no point intended).

So its cute to belong to a group till your understand that division makes you weaker and perhaps wicked.

  • Beautiful <3 I would be proud to be a Jew...

  • @MrAvraham4 yeah its all peace in israel! there are no bombings and people all over the world accept jews and dont make false accusations and try to wipe them out ever day. Mravaraham4 is totally right....jews arent in exile at all

  • why do you sing saying you're in exile?- exile ended the fifth of iyar in 1948- any jew can now return home to Israel- the question is why are remaining in a place that is not israel, yet praying to return to Israel. If you don't come back to Israel, stop praying to return. Don't make a mockery of our prayers!!!

  • This is a wonderful song:) ♥

  • this song was actually written in the memory of my late uncle, who was a close friend of abie. seeing this made my day ;w;

  • abie rotenberg is one of the best jewish singers. he always knows how to get his audience to feel the emotion he wants them to.
