New tires were installed the day before. So I just had to go test them out in Angeles Crest.

  • @MGBGT1976 ... I obtained the HS6 from a friend that had a rotting Volvo in their yard ... The car has since been "totaled" in an accident... I miss it. I'll probably pick another one up in a couple of years...

  • Nice ride! Miss mine. How do you find the HS6 (Mine were HIF4 - re-bushed and rebuilt but still lousy millage) Greets from the UK

  • 1.8L 4-Cylinder single barrel 1.75" "constant depression" side-draught carb. (SU HS-6, if that means anything to you :)), with a 4-speed manual. It's a "nearly" stock engine for the car... I have "plans" though...

  • Was this a four cylinder 5 speed? quite nice.

  • "Balls out" in a near stock MGB is not even close to the performance of newer cars with the same size engine. While I may have been going quite fast in parts, I wasn't actively trying to push the car to the limits of adhesion. I was more getting a feel for the balance of the car with the current inflation pressures and larger tire foot print.

  • hope you realize that tires need 500 miles to be properly worn in before you go balls out. i had a friend who wrecked up there because he did not wear in his tires.
