Went to school in Gillingham - lived in Dover. Made this journey hundreds of times - but the flange squeal coming into the Marine still gives me goose pimples and makes me nostalgic for the old days! So sad to know the old terminus is gutted and now a car park. Can't bring myself to visit the old place on my trips back to Kent - I want to remember it as it was in it's slightly shabby splendour.

So trains from London used to run to Dover Western Docks. Wish I visited this station now closed of course. Good clip.

Like the video, Thanks, but, what a shit hole the station is in. Do's every one in Dover dump their rubish there, or is this just the modern trend of Britain to not give a toss. I would sack the lot of the bloody staff there if that place was not cleaned up. Its agood job that I am not looking at this as an official way. Can you tell that I'm ex Mil. I would hate to introduce any visitors from abroad, here, I would be bloody embarased.

Great Video, 5 Stars! Such a shame that lines now closed :(

How long was it?

Also, I love have the old slam-doors would open while the train was still in motion. Wonderful video.

This is wonderful. My mum used to bring me here when I was a train-obsessed kid of about 5 years old. I'm not sure but I think that the section of road that comes into view around 1:16 is where you could cross on to the beach. I used to get so excited about coming so close to the bare metal of the rails. You have no idea how much I wish I could roll into this old station again. The smell was so distinctly BR standard issue disinfectant mixed with salty air and a bit of creosote.

A fascinatingly interesting video, interesting to see the speed at which the train approached the buffer stop as I'm sure that wouldn't be allowed these days at such a speed. 5* for this excellent piece of history! Such good quality you could sell it to a railway museum!

I am only sad I didn't shoot more of this interesting location. Apart from the return journey once again filmed from the train and my footage of the goods yard, that is sadly all I have. I'm only too happy to share these clips with the You Tube community.
