lysette anthony is certainly a very curious mimic but in the case of laura parker ive always been satisfied at the convincing innocence and honesty of her interpretation of angelique even if the audience believed evil had no place in the balance of the universe there is something dangeriously nieve in the fantasy that good always triumphs or someones perspective of good

If I have to make a comparison,I'll say Lara's Angelique was cute But Lysette's Angelique was Sexy.

@stp88661 I agree that Lara was incomparable; I always say: Lara was the greatest horror actress in the history of televison-although I must tell you I think that Diana Millay's character of the Phoenix was the most original and best female villein.

I as far as I'm concerned there's only one Anglique & that is Ms. Lara Parker! She portrayed evil incarnate as no other. Those eyes were so mesmerizing & she was also very well endowed with talent & a beautiful full figure. I've seen Lara Parker's other movies & two of my favorites were Save the Tiger with Jack Lemmon & Race with the Devil, with Peter Fonda. Two great dramatic & exciting movies. I only hope one day MGM will release the two DS's films to DVD, fully restored & uncut....

Angelique made the show... both series... So evil... You have to remember the 60's series was live... the revival was edited.. While I love both,... Lysette to me was so convincingly evil, it gave me the chills also... I was SO pissed in 1991 when they kept interupting tv with "Gulf War Coverage", and as a result, killed this Awesome show ! =`( ` ` ` ` ` Hear they are filming a new movie in 2011 with Johnny Depp..... God I hope thats true He said he's a rabid Dark Shadows Fan

@sbergman27 You're right. It's all a matter of taste. For me, Lysette Anthony made me love to hate Angelique. She gave an intensely evil performance and her scenes gave me the chills. The part where she convinces the judge that Peter was never there infuriated me but in a good way. I'm sure had the series continued, she would have played a brilliant Laura too.

@VictoriaWinters1991 I disagree. It's art, and all a matter of taste, of course. But Lara Parker made me love to hate her in a way that no actress ever has. And don't underestimate the "hate" part of "love to hate". I hated her. But I have to admit she was the best. It's kind of like eating really hot habenero peppers. You hate it, but have to admit you kinda enjoyed it, too.

@hecate55 I prefer Lysette's interpretation to Lara's. Lysette is the better actress IMO.
