Carp Fishing on Poynton Pool in Cheshire

Part of the Stockport and District Anglers Federation, Poynton Pool cost just £24.50 per rod per year for Adults and only £15 per rod for Juniors, the card allows you to fish many waters in the area and this water holds a good head of twenty pounders, with a couple near the thirty pound mark. We mangae to catch on film a couple of the twenty's and some nice upper double's. The video is shot over three differant days with Andy getting the result he was after on the third. What line strenght are you using to catch such big fish ? Im new at carp fishing. and my mate who fishes a lot says 10lb is enough. But last week at Turners i got a run and when i struck it snapped my line. Lost my swim feeder and wheight. I would welcome your advice, i am using Berkley braid to make my hair rigs and they are very succsefull. The braid is 20lb. Do you think i should have a stronger main line? I would be very glad of any advice.

@dfg297lpopdirk We fish on 12lb main line with a 12lb or 15lb hook link. Size 8 or 6 hook. On Turners you could probably scale this down a little although with the head of Carp in that water you wouldn't need to. 12lb line is fine for 30lb or 40lb fish if played correctly, and of coarse your in the right place at the right time to have a nice lump take your bait. @villagelanterne Hi Harry has been busy on Holiday down south, and also he's been putting some time in with School friends on a local water. We plan on visiting Winterly pool again tomorrow with him for a 24 hr session. he has said he wants to do most of the talking which gives me a break. Video should be out shortly.
