Who's to say the modern day neo-con is not a 'left-winger'. It was Nixon who established the graduated income tax system for example. His "New Federalism" program started the trend of federal funding of state programs, which of course has resulted in federal control over state programs. He also revolutionized "debt spending". Reagan implemented mass market controls in the form of subsidies and doubled the size of the federal government, etc. Then you have the Bushes

Gunter has made me think a bit. what would it be like if (more likely when) the US is alone and the whole world is attacking it? as Germany was ruined during and just after the war. That's a very possible outcome I'd say.

Europe is becoming such a police-state, too, e.g. there are regulations that restrict the flow of money and the argument is always the same: It's to stop the criminals. No one understands that such regulations are against the PEOPLE and lead into a dictatorship. There are secret lists here, too. If you're on such a list, you can't transfer money any more. You are as good as dead.
