Glenn explains how the Martin Jetpack is controlled with pitch, roll, yaw and thrust. This is on an earlier version of the Martin Jetpack with mechanical control. It is now fully fly by wire with electronic stability, though how you fly it is much the same.

  • How come the mythbusters guys didn`t get theirs to work

  • @abitic7 They purchased their plans off the internet for $30. They did well considering their starting point and the time frame they set themselves.

  • So there is no fly-by-wire, or computer assisted stability? It's all mechanical and aerodynamic stability?

  • When Glenn made this video it was mechanical flight control. Now the jetpack is full fly by wire with electronic stability and computer aided flight.

  • Recent to viewing this Vid, I'm really see the potential for this craft.. and with the easy of use flight controls, flight time duration and recent mechanical changes. This is the way forward..

  • Which control turns off the annoying accent?

  • I would believe the reason they do not use electric is that the fuel density (or whatever you call it) is nowhere near as great as for petroleum. Batteries are heavy.

  • The Flying car is something we have all thought about. Its just about making the technology known. The flying car is not as far from the future as I had previously thought.

  • Boring... they said there was a succesful test-flight, we want footage of that.

  • Shut the fuck up and fly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome! o.0

  • @colinshark this model yes, the newer one is fly by wire, and yes I got that from the video description ( :

  • Glenn, even with the FBW upgrade, there are some serious issues in respect to the stable flight envelope -- mainly due to the way you're implementing your control system. Drop me an email.
