  • Those of us that grew up during that time have heard it called the turbulent 60's. But I believe that era had by far the best music ever. Bands like Cream, Traffic, Ten Years After, Stones, Santana...you don't hear of any other time that could come out with a line up like that. And that is just a few of the band. Don't have enough space to list them all.

  • These comments are ridiculous. I bought this album in 1969 when I was 9 years old and immediately bought Hendrix "Smash Hits," Mountain Climbing, Jefferson Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow and Led Zeppelin II... these were the days of the greatest rock legends of all time. Total respect and complete awe... I will NEVER FORGET HOW INCREDIBLE THIS VINYL DISC SOUNDED: "Had to Cry Today" was utterly mindblowing on a jury rigged 4 speaker Kenwood amp with 4 KLH speakers. God, I miss those days...

  • Absolutely awesome song. If you haven't checked it out, I recommend you look at Joe Bonamassa's cover. Amazing version in my opinion. Here's the URL. watch?v=8diaKzCNMzU

  • One of my favorite recordings of all time.

  • @toddmeister168 i agree completely with you man! i wish they had stayed together longer, there's just not enough out there by them. and nobody ever gives credit to rick grech, such a great bassist.

  • love the music but was in love with the bitch on the cover. My album cover looks like hell....and suggest not buying it on E-bay. hahhhhah

  • And let's not forget the lyrics guys - no slouch there either - 'you say you can't reach me, but you want every word to be free'.

  • Agree with all the comments here giving a big wrap for this music. What a genius songwriter Winwood was/is? Is this song underrated? Not by me - nor, it would seem most of the people posting here - but maybe in the big scheme it is. What an irresistible mixture of strong melody line, rumbling rhythm and amazing individual virtuosity. Thanks for posting....

  • @ HBK1337 - if you think Never in My Life has any of the melodic nuance or rhythmic complexity of Had to Cry Today - then I'm sorry mate - you need to get your hearing checked. Having said that - I'm a big Mountain fan and the songs do not sound very similar to me. Had to Cry Today was written first I believe.

  • wow, this song sounds a lot like mountain's never in my life
