Football Hooligans - NAC Breda v Newcastle - 2003

Riot police arrested more than 80 Newcastle United fans after fighting in the Dutch town of Breda before a Uefa cup match.
Police carrying batons and shields charged drunken fans as they rampaged through the narrow streets and market areas of the town for more than two hours. Police horses were used to round up supporters who were throwing bottles, chairs and tables.
Windows in bars and restaurants were smashed and shoppers were forced to flee. At one point, more than 150 police confronted Newcastle fans in the Haver Market and Bigg Market areas of the city, which lies on the Belgian border.
The fighting came a week after England fans were banned from travelling to Turkey for the European Championship qualifying match because of the fear of trouble.
Uefa officials have already asked police in Breda for a report on last night's trouble.
Willem van Roydonk, Breda police spokesman, said there had been 90 arrests, 83 of them Newcastle fans. "This is a quiet town and on Tuesday night there were about 150 supporters drinking and singing with their opposite numbers from NAC Breda. It was all very pleasant.
"But today another 1,200 Newcastle supporters arrived and there was trouble. They were drinking in the bars and getting very drunk. We sent in our mobile riot squad units to make snatch arrests. There was a barrage of bottles and glasses."
