Military Vehicles [France]: Panhard VBL (Armée de Terre)

The Panhard Véhicule Blindé Léger (English: Light Armoured Vehicle) is a wheeled 4x4 all-terrain vehicle offered in various configurations. It was designed to combine the agility of the Peugeot VLTT liaison vehicle with adequate protection against small arms fire, artillery fragments, mines and NBC weapons. The VBL is fully amphibious and can swim at 5.4 km/h; it is also air transportable by C-130, C-160 and A400M.

The VBL was developed during the 1980s and entered operational service in France in 1990. The VBL has been used in many peacekeeping operations, notably in Bosnia, Somalia and Kosovo..

Yes, they are so freaking awesome, I was in the Mexican army in an armored unit from 1989 to 1992 and was a driver of one of these, I also was trained to drive the other two Panhard vehicles the linx light tank and the armored VCR-TT 6X6 (I drove this in the Mexican independence military parade three years in a row) personnel carrier.The three of them amphibious.
