Where do I put my FEET when shooting a basketball?

In this video, we explain where you feet should be placed when you go into a shot. We suggest a slight stagger that isn't squared to the hoop. This allows you to properly line up your shooting arm with your target, which is more comfortable and ergonomic. When you square your entire body, you're forced to bring your arm across your body, which is not a natural position and will likely result in lower percentage shooting. Give our approach a try and you'll love it!

  • this question was in the all star game and they asked are you supposed to look at the rim or the path that the ball is suppose to follow? after watching the perfect arc ive been trying to make sure the apex is in the middle of the arc 3 feet above the rim

  • @mr2fresh21 We recommend that you learn how to create the proper arc and then "FOCUS ON THE TARGET" not the path of the ball.

  • Dear Coach, Since that im on Grade 8 and i play Center on my Jr High League, and now going to high school. I realized that I am now too short for being a Center. Now I want to learn how to play Point Guard or Shooting Guard or Small forward. I have bad Ball handling skills and shooting in the 3pt and Mid- ranged spots. How can I improve them?

Ps. The Dribbling 101 helped a little bit on my ball handling..

  • @TheExtrmeboy We have a lot of videos on our channel that you need to get into as they will detail what you need tobe able do as a perimeter player. It would take more room than we have here to detail what you need to do. Get started today and be ready for the next season.

  • @lbolton23 It surely sunds like you need to develop your skills and with that you will develop some confidence in yourself. This is pretty common to new players. Let's get busy working on your game and then take it to the court. It just takes some effort and a little time to overcome.

  • ok ive wanted to be on a baketball team for a while but i never could make it its like im ballsick i can play with my ball but not the ball at my school and when somebody comes towards i freeze i trie d 4 the team last year if you could help me id appreciate

  • Are you guys that dumb... watch any video of the greatest shooters of all time... they are SQUARED UP! If you shoot with proper form, including squaring up, your arm does not come across your body if you're smart enough to keep your shooting elbow "IN." Plus, late in games when your legs are getting tired and you want to have both legs under you, hence squared up, b/c distance comes from your legs. Just saying, watch videos of the greats and you guys are WRONG!!!

  • @NatisCole Great!! Glad to hear it.

  • @ShotScience ok thanks this really helps me!

  • @NatisCole No! The grip should be firm but not tight.
