The penny was not seated quite flush on the casing, but was raised a bit on one side, which is why I suspect the the penny cut the sign only on one partly.

I doubt a jet actually formed, and even if it did, such a thin target doesn't prove penetrating capabilities, but I do what I can.

  • Well, true the VoD is low, but at least with larger charges, I've heard people report very successful SC's using APAN and even ANFO

  • I've made slot of these that have very similar results, haha probably because i use flash for my explosive...... It is really bad for shaped charges. But it still Shot a convex penny that didn't invert through an aluminum alloy heat sink.

  • @ztrain727 use ANNMAL. use this stuff only for boosters and caps. Etn is pretty expensive for large amounts so i use that in caps only.

  • if U had 2g of explosive and 3g of cap it gives 5g not 2g like in the describtion

  • anfo for a shaped charge? thats kinda slow...

  • Might try to form the hemisphere from a slug of copper rather than a penny for a better jet. Modern pennies are actually not made out of copper, they're copper plated zinc in a ratio of around 2.5% copper with the balance being zinc.
