Is all you need the books??? Because i found a basic set thing on borders and im not really sure if i should get it, as it is $50! Can i just get the books only and play?

you CAN play with just the books, and use your imagination. You can also get some gridded paper and use just about anything to represent your guys and foes. Or you can spend more and get miniatures and tiles like you see above.
You at LEAST need some dice to go with those books. But, dice, books, pen and paper... its enough to play a very base version of the game. If you like it, you'll definately end up spending more as time goes on tho!
