  • I don't know if it's relevant to Amiga, but there was an animation my dad used to show me all the time, and he was an Amiga user. It was about a hollow glass sphere, with a barrier deviding it into two hemispheres, one containing birds, the other containing fish. Eventually a birds breaks through the barrier in order to get to one of the fish. Does anyone know the one I'm talking about? I'd love to see it again.

  • That's an animation from The Mind's Eye called Breaking the Ice. It was made back in the 80s. Look for The Mind's Eye on Youtube. It has nothing to do with the Amiga as far as I know.

  • Looks like it was captured from a VHS tape.. Maybe if somebody has the originals, a digital capture could be done and would have a lot higher quality, even for youtube.

  • It is a "digital capture". A digital capture of an analogue source. See, I actually recorded this to my MiniDV camcorder first through RCA cables (Analogue to digital), then I transfered the video to my computer (digital to digital). I really doubt you'd get any higher quality than this. They didn't have DVDs when this was made obviously and even broadcast quality tape degrades over time. Honestly, the quality isn't that bad. The original captures that I made look much better than on Youtube.

  • Wow. Have not seen that in ages. I was so surprised at the time that they put it at the first of the video. I was only 16 at the time, did most of it pixel-by-pixel in deluxepaint 3.

  • Wow, I'm glad you found this video Jokton. Out of curiosity, did you find it by searching for your name or were you looking for this video? BTW, I thought your animation was worthy of being at the beginning. It was a good intro.

  • @niatona You are looking for a piece called Breaking the Ice with two characters Stanley (Bird) and Stella (fish). It was made by a company called Symbolics, as a demo for S-animate / S-Model etc.

  • @adric22 why would you want a digital version? Amiga to VHS is beautiful it captures the era perfectly with no pixels or degrading audio quality and video! Id love to record directly onto a video ;-)

  • I'm 13 and wow, I really wanna be a 3D animator, please someone let me know if you know where I can get an Amiga for a good price?

  • Dramatic SQUIRREL at 1:15 !!!!! (without the squirrel though)

Yet again, ahead of its time, even for 'viral Youtube' vids. LOL

  • @Nextwave1980

I think the last question was do you own the Amiga4000T that is(was) siting away (2 years now?) What is its current status?, if you know.

  • *badumbadumbadumbadum*

    i want my MTV.... :P

  • @Hotshotter3000

Marketing and sales. CBM didn't know what they had, advertised and developed in the wrong direction.

  • @Nextwave1980

Have you checked out Aros or visited the a-eon.com website?

  • @jackedup447 Owner? I owned this video as a kid while I was working with Deluxe Paint IV and Lightwave back in the 90s... this video was probably around 1989 or so. I probably still have this video kicking around at my parents place.. there was a few videos they made. (Amiga World Mag) Desktop publishing 101 and editing 101.. a whole bunch.. I'll have to see if I can find them and convert them to OGV or AVI.. I'm strictly Linux now. Only operating system that feels like the amiga days! :D

  • @Nextwave1980 are you the owner
