"Where Shall We Be In a Year from Now?".
Albert Whelan.
Recorded London,August 25th 1931.

This record is the reverse side to 'Ho Hum', two great tunes for 6d!. I thought this song would make a fitting first upload for the new year 'The Miners Dream Of Home' is perhaps a little predictable.

Another year older are all our good old tunes,80+ or fast approaching. We now have historic tastes. Here's to our 78 record collections and to all the pleasure and escapism they will provide in 2009!.

  • Thank you 85scampi for keeping people like my self so amused with your collection.

  • Thank you for such a kind comment. This You-Tube is a great thing isn't it!.It has opened up a whole new dimension for my interest in old records and fascination for the '20's and 30's.

  • We'll certainly be without a Woolworths on the high street - another part of our lives slipping away along with the "Tanner" (six old English pence). No wonder we find comfort in the past and fear for the future. Good old Albert - he was a treasure!

  • More disturbing change. I went in my local branch during my lunch hour - very sad to see empty shelves and sad looking staff. My Grandparents would just not have believed it, Woolworths closing?, surely not?!!.

  • Yes, Woollies was always there - I found one in Moenchen Gladbach in '56 which smelled like the one in Ealing and made me feel at home! But now I realise that I hadn't bought anything from them in years, ergo....

  • One of the few artists to appear on Eclipse without using a pseudonym too?.

  • Have also seen your video of the reverse side- "Ho Hum". making it a most entertaining combination. Thanks for posting. Incidently, Albert Whelan made the very first Eclipse record.

  • More than likely to be Jay Wilbur.

  • What a delightful song, most appropriate for the occasion! Thank you for sharing.

  • This is a really nice song. Do you know the name of the band?
