The Dogs descend upon Ord Mountain, southeast of Barstow, California. This time, they engage in a time-honored tradition of herpetologists - herping. Herping is the act of looking for reptiles (and amphibians) in the wild.

This was also the weekend of the 'Super Moon', when the moon was about 50,000 kilometers closer then usual. This happens once every 18 years.

  • The rattlesnake (crrotalus) is a speckled rattlesnake (crotalus mitchellii ).

  • @Joshuatreefarms - Thanks... our biologist is kicking himself for the misidentification. To be fair, he's an entomologist. But still, thanks for pointing that out!

  • Another vote for Crotalus mitchellii pyrrhus - Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnake, definitely not a sidewinder.
