She definitely could speak English...just check her first us appearance on Ellen show, her English was fine. Don't know why DF said that last night.

I really wish David Foster will stop this story of Charice not speaking a word of english when he 1st met her. It is so not true and there's no good reason why he insists in telling the story. Here's Charice when she arrived at Los Angeles airport for the very first time.

Now, that was a very sweet eloquent 15 year old if I may say so. In my opinion, she spoke very well. So David, please stop this nonsense about her not speaking a word of english when you met her.

People, this is David Foster, the Hitman, who knows a thing or two about marketing and hype. If ever it will be questioned in the future, he can easily just brush it off as "not knowing english the way we, native speakers, know it" and then move on.

@PersianCatUSA, you have to remember that DF is marketing Charice. He is trying to prep the world for her. He wants to deflect future criticisms. If her English is a work in progress then, even if she sometimes is grammatically wrong, then it is excusable, and actually is admirable, because she learns fast and is improving quite well.

Hey guys, David is just joking.  Even though he always tell this story, he is not serious and if you listen to his past interviews, he is very witty and likes to add light humor. Of course Charice can speak english, that's how David and Oprah discovered her, singing "I Have Nothing" and "I Will Always Love You".

Charice, money is tight but I will try to see you here in LA. It will be a nice bday gift for myself (11/04).
