  • Thanks for video. Why don't the operators turn one of the end locos around so they don't need to swap ends ?

    Some details from-

LocoPage is a Web site about Australian diesel and electric locomotives

    Power1460 kW / 1950 HP (1st series)

    1490 kW / 2000 HP (2nd, 3rd series)

    2460 kW/ 3300 HP (X38, XR series 1 & 2 & XRB)

I have seen the X class around Sydney, mainly on interstate freights to Brisbane. Might even end up as coalies

  • Am told that the cabs on the X class is much better/comfortable than the T/H/P class. There's no reason I'm aware of that the T/H/P class can't lead long end either. If I where a driver I'd be swapping them if possible as well for a better ride. Run to Geelong takes 8 hours thanks to the schedule.

  • Sounds like a good reason. T class getting very old, like NSWGR class 48's. Both types still in service.

I saw couple of T class hauling a starch train at Sutherland.

Garretts vs 1960's Diesel Electric Locos on 1 in 40 Bank

Looked somewhat out of place. Since then, 81's have taken over. I think the main complaint was low speed attained with this unpowered loco set.
