Yes, it was, but they sometimes they took the show on the road. This particular Hayride show was broadcast from Harlingen, TX. On the full audio of this song was on, it is announced at the beginning of the broadcast that they are in TX that week.
No problem, I don't everything they did back then and why either. Shreveport is a nice area to visit. I use to go visit Tillman Franks quite a bit before he passed and loved the area. It's been 2 or 3 years since I was there last. There are some good books out there on the Hayride if you haven't read yet, you might like. "Hank, Elvis, and Me" by Horace Logan, and "Tillman Franks, I Was There When It Happened" by Tillman Franks and Robert Gentry. Good accounts of the Hayride days.
No actually, they were Scottish Highlanders, and yes they did run. It was a poorly planned and poorly executed attack that got a lot of good men killed. The irony is that the march to come up to New Orleans from the land side was brilliantly done.
You're absolutely right. The Brits almost won the thing, but the commander decided to abort the mission with victory almost in hand. The withdrawal was not followed by the Americans who were more than happy after almost getting beat.
