What he is saying is that the system in place isn't the only way. That hardly makes him a whining liberal. You're the one whining. Unfortunately, as great as some of the folks are that you salute, not everyone has been covered - many have been disenfranchised. FYI, I've worked in the corporate system - many of my friends work for corporations - but the corporate system is not the end all.

Human being have to be insulated from the real world, whatever the "real world" is. Have you seen how quick and brutal life is in the real world. The problem is that insulation is held over the heads of people - work or you will be exposed to the real world. Civilization, that insulation is privately owned, like it was created or maintained by some elite groups of superior beings, and they have the masses of people believing it.

When my neighborhood/community put in massive amounts of time and energy to make their public schools great, other communities cried foul. They said it wasn't fair and tried to take stuff from our school or worse, to prevent us from giving to our school.

Wealth isn't self-reliance. The entire purpose of wealth is to justify one's dependence on society.
