Papa's Graceful Spirit is a coming 6 year old "3 Gaited" mare that is already winning blue ribbons with regularity. Gracie is totally natural in everything she does, in keg shoes or barefoot, she is top quality Trail Pleasure Division at the national level, and will consistently win or place in the lite-shod division at local shows. Destined for a natural, sound home, Gracie is simply wonderful on the trail... non-spooky with a truly adventurous spirit. She has total self confidence that makes her a real "do anything" kind of filly.
By multi-national champion, Papa's Royal Delight, out of a direct Pride's Dark Spirit mare, her bloodlines are elite. Serious inquiries only. Thank You.

  • Does your Walker trot under saddle?

  • Not unless I ask her to... which I don't. She would occasionally when first started under saddle... sometimes pace and sometimes rack as well. Personally I don't like to post or ride a trot in any fashion and never ask for it from the saddle. I do like my horses to be able to pick up a trot at liberty because it shows they are able to round their core which is better than hollowing out into a pace.

  • @raprhowe If you don't mind me asking, how did you teach her to trot under saddle? I have a Walker who needs to learn how to trot under saddle for saddle seat, but I have NO idea how to do it.

  • Trot, like any change in "timing" comes from the posture of the core: rounded for trot, neutral for even 4-beat gait and hollow for pace. To round the horse you will ask them to lower their head; poll level with or below the withers. You ask for bend through the core which encourages rounding. Walking over cavaletti and backing are also great exercises to round the core... all with the head down. Generally, the higher a horse wants to carry their head, the greater the tendency to hollow.

  • great horse do you still have her ?

  • @1023rose

Yes, I still have her and she's still great. I'm taking her to an NWHA show in Athens, TX this month.

  • Beautiful mare. I pray that whoever gets her keeps her feet as they are and appreciates the TWH as they were meant to be....

  • When a TWH learns to balance and collect into a controlled and elegant canter there are unique characteristics that add to it's animation and brilliance. The rocking chair canter becomes a "stepping" gait rather than a "leaping" gait as the driving hind leg reaches under and plants just a fraction *before* the lead leg lifts off, much as an upper level dressage horse will execute a pirouette. It is still a correct, 3 beat canter, but with added elegance, balance and animation.

  • I am a die-hard stock horse person, but I must say I think the TWH has the PRETTIEST most ACTIVE canter around. They are so animated in that gait haha. Prettier to me than an arabian. Just my opinion :)

  • @Free1108 Still have her. Email me thru my website howetheywalk. com

  • @raprhowe Do you still own this lovely mare? I last showed TWH in the '70s. I was very fortunate to have top quality horses as I was able to experience that awesome ride under the spotlight when winning WC's in the Juvenile and Ladies divisions. Watching this mare move; I know I have seen another top quality horse! I got out of the business for several reasons but I miss it terribly; especially miss this wonderful breed. I am very much interested in your mare. Please PM me if she is available.

  • oh isn't she just beautiful? you two look great out there.

  • She's so classy. I want one just like her someday.

  • @Kaylavictoria So? I don't care if it isn't proper. I'm not planning to show. I'm riding saddle seat for fun

  • @warriorcats101 WE ride TWH's in saddle seat and DO NOT TROT!!!!!!!!!!!!! when they ask for a trot you do a running walk!!!! It is NOT PROPER to ask your Walker to trot in the show ring even if you are riding saddle seat with other breeds of horses that trot.
