totally agreed with top comment except for the gangsta rap... they had some cool music too but dude remember this is hip hop and theyre rap... dont mix em up. Not saying all rappers were good but a few were really good too. Still prefer this hip hop though.

Pete Rock & CL Smooth, in my opinion, are the greatest artists hip-hop has ever seen. The Main Ingredient, in my opinion, is the greatest hip-hop album of all time. There's not one bad track on that album, they're all dope! The fact that I've had to dig in the crates to find music from when I was a young child makes the album even better. Real hip-hop forever! No immitations. Peace.

I agree the '90s had many golden moments, & it was a good time in Hip-hop, but it was second to the true golden era which was the late 80's to '90. This was the only time when you had an abundance of music where artists were free to be original & creative, & made great music. Why? Because no one controlled hip-hop then, when the 90s came in, the big business started taking control & making gangsta rap clones, or MC Hammer pop clones. Pete & CL was golden!
