NOTE: This is NOT me! This is my sister. I try to relay as many nice comments to her as I can, and I know she's appreciated everyone's support!

On January 9, 2008, Em was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. The next day we filmed this video to share with our other sister who wasn't around to see the fun we were having.

March 30, 2008 Update: Em's BP has almost entirely disappeared! Her smile is still a little bit uneven but it is hardly noticable anymore.

August 2008 Update: Emily's BP is completely gone now! In fact, it's been totally gone since May, but it was only hardly noticable for a month before that. Emily says she can still tell when she yawns, but I think she's being picky! :)

To others with BP: Hang in there! Have a few laughs, it makes things a little bit easier!

This video is NOT meant to offend anyone else who has or has ever had Bell's Palsy, Em was just playing with the hand she was dealt, with a great sense of humor.

  • She has a really great Spirit.

I didint enjoy how she was laughed at.

And hope that it was with her. Not at her.

  • Of course it was with her. She was the one making jokes of the situation! No worries. :)

  • HOw do you get it? You just wake up one morning and half your face is paralyzed?

  • There's no "known" cause of BP, but it's thought to have something to do with the inflamation of a nerve around the ear on the effected side. It does come on suddenly, usually overnight, and can last anywhere from weeks to months. Emily's now (2/22/08) is hardly noticable anymore. I'll try to get another video sometime!

  • did it get better?

  • I have it but im only thirteen

  • Exactly Same :D Around 2 months. Yep, I remember I was in front of the computer alot when I got it. Actually I first felt the right side of my face wasn't moving, when I was staring at the monitor, I was like what the hell.. lol

  • xD we're the same i got bell's palsy like that myself -_- to much computer and not enough rest ^^ by now i'm recovered YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it took me 2 months to recover how bout you

  • It can be caused by Stress or not enough rest. Cause can also be if your in front of a computer alot. Thats how i got it.

  • I had it over the summer, I took medicine and did physical therapy. I got cured in 2 months. I think physical therapy (messaging, exercising, and electric therapy) really helped me to recover from this quickly.

  • i just came home from the hopsital today with Bell's Palsy, and after seeing this video, and having the SAME exact problems, I've laughed my crooked face off knowing someone else is having the same problems..

  • hey i have it for 5 years i had a nerve put in from my leg didnt work im still looking for a cure
