this goal was for the bet companies who payed for a goal in injury time that brings them huge profit, in the '87 minute score was 4-0 nigerians were passing the ball playing cat and mouse with argentinians and the odds for no 5th goal were 1.90 (normally at that time in a friendly is 1.10-1.15)! that is huge and tempting for any gambler. ref gave 5min injury but nigerians were still passing the ball ref waited and waited until finally arg players managed to kick a ball in the box for penalty

@philib57 moron, ODDS are made by the bet companies, they offered 1.90 for no 5th goal instead of 1.10 that is usually at that time in a friendly game. If u missed at math lessons 1.90 is much bigger than 1.10 so they attract many gamblers to put huge money on that. Goal scored in '98th minute, gamblers lose... ref wins

@trex0911 huge amounts of money were put on huge odds for a 5th goal. the referee made sure there was time for a 5th goal. the bookmakers have to pay out on these bets. this means they LOSE money, not GAIN money. it's really not that difficult to understand

@philib57 I don't get your point. Bet companies have baited gamblers with huge odds (in min '87 odds were 1.90 for no 5th goal ). Referee made sure there is enough time for another goal. The goal scored in injury time has bringed profit to bet companies, therefore refs got there share for the "good job". Officials take no action because it's just a friendly game. What are you not understanding?

@abraamdyns There is nobody to take actions about. Guess why? Betting companies have become some of the most reliable sponsors in football. Ppl just close eyes and forget because they do this kind of maneuverer in friendly games so they don't attract too much attention. I have seen this many times also in reserve teams matches or women teams.
