Super Mario 64 - Powerful Mario (MIDI)

Also known as Wing Cap, Vanish Cap, Koopa Shell, Invincible Theme, Star Theme, whatever. I love this so much! It's easily my favourite version of the star theme from across all of the Mario franchise (that I have heard), with Yoshi's Island's version bringing up the rear in 2nd place. And yet, all the other transcriptions of this are underwhelming, so I had to do my own version (couple of weeks back.) Most of this track took me about 30 minutes, but doing just the first bar of the guitar line took me about an hour by itself =( fortunately it was mostly copy&paste after that. I also had to revisit this because the USF that I originally used as a reference is fairly inaccurate - fixed it up using the OST version instead. This midi was designed for XG playback.

Were you able to export the notes from the USF?

@plejra nah. tools do exist - like vgmtrans - but it only works for certain Smashy driver games, and super mario 64 isn't one of them. this was all done by ear, using both the USF and OST versions as reference.

pretty sure those guitar strums are originally sampled anyway :J

I went a looked up a bunch of the variations of this theme for comparison. Wow, there are a lot of them! I do like this one and the Yoshi's Island one best, but I couldn't decide between them. Yoshi's Island has a great soundtrack in general, I should listen to it today. In between hearing it, I forget how awesome it is.

If I didn't know better, I would think this was the original. At least at the start. At the other end you can hear it isn't.
