On October 29th, 2011, a rare October snowstorm struck CT with upwards of 8 inches of snow in parts. Most of the state was out of power, including my towns of Windsor and Simsbury. There was also a large amount of damage to trees because of the snow, which made many roads impassible. Fortunately Amtrak was running after a two day outage which provided our daily entertainment since there was no electricity and we had read most of our books. We were quite lucky to get our power back in 5 days. Some people got it back after 10 days! For days, the only things with power in Windsor center were the bank and Amtrak's signals. Thanks for watching!
