Greg Jarboe, SEO-PR, interviews Emanuel Rosen, author, The Anatomy of Buzz Revisited and keynote speaker at SES Toronto 2009. Emanuel says marketers have to pay attention to buzz because it is becoming more important than ever. Emanuel says 30% of negative buzz comes from people who never experience the product they are reviewing. This is why it is important to counter-balance the negative buzz with positive buzz, using customers who have used your product, both online and offline. Emanuel also discusses the lessons learned about George Wright's Will It Blend videos which have been viewed millions of times by YouTube users. Emanuel says more than 1,000 people asked George to blend an iPhone, and as a result, he did so. Emanuel makes the distinction between social hubs and expert hubs. He says marketers need to find isolated clusters to help broaden the reach of their product. Emanuel also shares a great story about Tom's Shoes and how Tom came up with the idea of giving away his own product.
