He gets an "A" here. Dems are socialists in nature, however, we havent had an inkling of a conservative presidency since Reagan, and may never again. The repubs and dems are joined at the hip. They want you to believe they are different, and vote for them because the other guy sucks. The reality is both parties enjoy a non-challenged power, that neither is willing to give up, and will Do or Say anything to keep that power. A few have our country in its best interest, but, its a very few, sadly
Unfortunately, the US is ranked disastrously low, in health care outcomes. One of the saddest is infant mortality, particularly for lower socio-economic classes. The US barely stays up with developing countries in these measures. Or: US health care costs per capita come close to doubling those of our developed neighbors. We have much to be ashamed for.
As to market involvement ... health insurance companies - acting from the 'market' - have shaped this disastrous situation .
Less spending does not mean anything. Healthcare outcomes are all that matter, and in that regard, along with the shortest waiting lines in hospitals, America is #1.
The problem with American healthcare is that the government is involved. It regulates interstate commerce, obsurd tax laws force you to get insurance through your employer, the free market has been taken out of our healthcare system. Deregulate the market, watch prices drop and quality improve.
Let's cut the b.s. ALL health insurance is socialistic. Individuals pay into a pool, and then the sick are paid out of that pool, to cushion the costs of catastrophic illness. The American version of socialism is the for-profit variety....and it works best for the rich and the healthy. Even the most expensive Euro systems are 1/2 our cost, and have slightly better longevity rates to boot. For 100 years, our insurers have been free to do it right...and instead they have created a real mess.
