THIS is the stuff that legend is made of.....
An amazing series focusing on one of the most fascinating periods in the development of this vast arform called rock and roll....I can't wait to see Lou again in July playing with Laurie Anderson and John Zorn/Montréal Jazz Fest

@Wavelength247 Yes. ~always~

looks like he thoroughly conned you..."most lyrically crafted songs of all time", "the man who made rock and roll" hahahahahahahah - your thorazine is showing - I'd walk past 20 lureeds to hear 'the standards' (James Burton, Gatemouth, Freddie, Albert, BB, T-Bone, etc) warm up.... punk is most accurate description - to early for the pretenders

@jefferzone61 You are right in one of your thoughts, he was the original. Lou Reed was the man who made rock and roll. There were no standards set at the time. Heroin is one of the most lyrically crafted songs of all time. He could not have been a con man because there was nothing for him to mimmic. Lou Reed created his own type of music.

of course its all a matter of taste, but I always felt like this guy was the original slacker - just enough to meet the most minimal of standards - face it - not much of a poet and a stagnant zero of a guitar player - a better con man than musician, imnsho

I love you Patti! And you Thurston Moore...
-
Mary Woronov is stunning.
-
Ms. Smith talking about 'Heroin'? I wonder what Lou Reed thought of that...

Lou Reed is one of the most interesting people I've ever heard or read about. Same goes for all of the people he played with, & his friends and mentors. Thank you so much. Here's to the Godfather of Punk!
NO artist in the history of music promoted the Velvets more than Bowie/he was the first and the loudest.His manager gave him an advance copy(from Andy)of their debut album, after Bowie heard it and it blew his mind to bits,he was actually playing covers of the songs at his live shows....BEFORE the album was actually released! The man was always ahead of everyone and had impeccable taste in all art.How honoured he was years later to produce Lou's Transformer/to this day their friendship thrives.
