Randy Tischmann doing some flatland at the very first King of Vert in LeSeur Minnesota. I had to convert it to B&W because my source video was a 24 year old 3rd generation copy and the lights in this place were absolutely horrible.
Randy was the best in Chicago for sure. Also don't forget he was awesome on vert, but also amazing on dirt. He would get about 5 feet higher than the best guy around. I remember he had that vert ramp jammed in his small back yard in Oak Park. Man those days were awesome!
I rode with Randy as well, I was on the trick team with him, we traveled a lot with Mike Carruth,,, we got into magazines together (bmx plus nov 83, mar.84 and some others) did a espn commercial for the grand nationals. we were sponsored by Renny Roker and JoxJag... he could throw a fit..
I remember seeing Randy doing a couple BMX shows inside The Brickyard, a shopping mall in Chicago. I was just a little kid, but went up to the mall to look at BMX magazines and get some pizza. I remember turning the corner inside the mall and almost shitting my pants seeing half pipes set up inside the mall! I think it was a 2 day affair if I remember rite(?). All I know is I lived at the mall until that was over. I also remember older riders in my hood talking about Randy and his ugly frame. :)
Randy T was a bmx bad ass for sure, dirt, flat, vert, street even racing he as good as anybody in all aspects of bmx, definitely a legend amongst legends.
Randy did indeed rule! Spent ALOT of time riding with him. Watching him ride dirt had to be seen to be believed. Should definately be reguarded as one of the best to ever ride bmx freestyle!!!!!
This is Andy Barrette i used to ride with Tischmann and Jose Yanez back in the circus.
