Season 4 opening credits for the TV Series Welcome Back Kotter. Note that this is a very clean intro in the first few seconds with no applause during the scene-to-opening transition, which is rare. Also, this opening is longer than the opening used during the first 3 seasons, and is from one of the last episodes that did not feature John Travolta as Barbarino. A NOTE FROM EPSTEIN'S MOTHER: Fair use and educational value on TV History are the purpose of this posting, enjoy!

  • When Gabe Kaplan appeared on one of the very last episodes of WBK, didn't he start sporting a full-grown beard?

  • I believe he appeared on the final show with a full beard, after strangely being absent for most of the last season ('78-79)!! The episode premise when he returned was for Arnold's wedding.

  • Yes, John was only in about the first 4 episodes of the 1978-79 season, and then the "Beau" character came on to replace him, which of course was not possible (who could equal Barbarino??). This final season also amazingly did not have Mr. Kotter (Gabe Kaplan) in very many episodes either!

  • @pooka5472 Gabe wanted the Sweathogs to go to College because he knew they were getting too old for high school. Besides when John Travolta left the show died.

  • @jed6271 That was because Gabe Kaplan had actually left the show due to creative differences with executive producer James Komack.

I agree with you 100% life was soo much simpler and more fun. Life was more positive

    and optimistic unlike today.

  • @UncleMikeNJ i wasnt able too back then..i was only 3 yrs old lmao.

  • @TheITALIANJRZYGUYNNJ Clearly, you didn't spend much time in The City in the Seventies. Some things were better then... Brooklyn was a WHOLE lot worse!

  • 1979.... wow, that was a totally diffrent planet back then....
