The video shows how to generally create a wave pattern on a knitted garment by working decreases and yarn overs.
In this video we are following a pattern repeat with 17 sts in width and 4 rows in height.
1st row (RS): *K2 tog 3 times, yo, K1, yo, K1, yo, K1, yo, K1, yo, K1, yo, K2 tog 3 times*, rep *-*.
2nd row (WS): K all sts (they will be purled seen from RS)
3rd row: K all sts
4th row: P all sts

  • Thank you for your SLOW techniques and interesting patterns. But I am a beginner and I'm having trouble with this set. The problem I'm having is two-fold: the video shows you adding an extra knit stitch at the beginning and end of each row, which is not in the written instructions- so which should I follow? Won't it throw off the 17 st cast on? Also, can you increase the width? would it be multiples of 15 + 2 or what? Sorry, I'm also not great at math, either. BTW the design is lovely, thanks.

  • @connall06 You cast on a multiple of 17 and then 1 edge stitch each side. Our sample has 2 times 17 + 1 st each side = 36 sts.

  • What type of yarn is that?

  • @dappledfeather Hi, the yarn we are using is Drops Eskimo 100% wool, supersoft and easy knitted.

  • Hi!

Was your original cast on 37 stitches?

    Thanks.

  • @shoeshopyoga No we cast on 36 sts, i.e 2 times 17 + 1 edge st each side.

  • This didn't fit in my first post. Liked the video though. Slow is the way to go!! Thanks for teaching this new way to do the wave stitch with yo!! I was having trouble with one I saw before.

  • I stopped the video at the end & zoomed in to count the stitches you used. Maybe the instructions under it should say, "CO __ sts", in your case, 36 & include the K1 before & at the end of the pattern row, plus on the purl row. I copied your instructions in an email to myself & added those things for myself to follow.

I know the 6 yo section is to make up for the 6 decs made by K2tog, 6 times total, in each 'pattern section' but some beginners might not understand that. Audio would help.

  • @crochet65 Our vides always have a written text to go with them (right under the video). Here on You Tube and on Vimeo it's always in English, but on our website you will get it in the language page you are on.

  • This is friggin awesome
