One of the latest studies by Centers For Disease Control says that more than thirty eight percent of Americans are sleeping less than seven to eight hours everyday, the amount of sleep recommended for good health by the health experts. This report on one hand takes a look at how this lack of enough sleep is being life threatening in the form of drowsy driving by causing at least one hundred thousand traffic accidents every year in the US while on the other hand the report also brings to the forth the negative effects of the long term lack of sleep on a person's health by an interview of DR Michael J Twery, director of the National Center On Sleep Disorders Research. DR Twery says that it was not long ago that medical science became capable of telling about the relationship between sleep and a person's health. He says that amount of sleep needed for enabling an individual to function properly during wakefulness is different than the one necessary for protecting him from health issues such as obesity, diabetes and certain kinds of cancer.
