On November 12, 2011 the oldest Carnegie library in The Indianapolis Public Library system, the East Washington Branch, celebrated 100 years of service. One of two remaining Carnegie libraries it was the first to be built in the city with a grant of $120,000 from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. The branch was dedicated on November 14, 1911.
