@mountainjustice the sad thing is, where i live at (kingsport northeast tip of tn on the boarder w/va) is a horrible place to live in as well because of eastman chemical company... talk about health problems, strange deaths, pollution & everything around here is toxic....that's why it kills me to see things like this happening all over the place in some of the most beautiful places in the world
-
People do know about this big MESS! Y'all should move the HELL outta there ASAP. The TVA does not care about you or your family not to mention Your HEALTH. It's all about there bottom dollar!!!!!!!
I feel SO BAD for ALL of you in this area of East TN!!
We wish you well from WI.

land of idiots who spew total bullshit

This is an outrage! Why don't more people know about it? I feel awful for everyone effected by this spill, especially the farmers whose land is now ruined and children who don't have clean air to breath. I am sure TVA won't be compensating them for their loses either. Thanks TVA!
All you need to live is CLEAN air, water and food. It is not that much to ask for.
Proves the point that clean coal is a dirty lie!

This should STILL be headline news!!! Where are all the heel biting reporters??
-
Unbelievable. Amazing work by all the residents and volunteers involved in getting these huge gears to yell for mercy and change their ways.

This is COAL in action. There is no such thing as 'clean coal'. Even if things like this didn't happen, MTR is destroying land water and people all over Appalachia. When are we going to stop the same old ways and find alternatives?

This should be all over the news!
How much more are we going to put up with before we say enough?
Come on America, Land of the FREE? and home of the BRAVE?
excuse my language, but, fuck TVA.... i visited this site personally days after this happened on a trip home from nashville, and i've never seen anything more disturbing in my life. this is a complete outrage, and i agree that this issue should be getting more attention than it has, and there are people that are accountable for this that need to be brought to justice that probably never will.

Matt, TVA initially told the public that it would be cleaned up in 6-8 weeks and that it was "mostly inert"
Now we know that it will take years to clean up, cost a billion dollars and guess what, its toxic
