  • I have a question to ask that is I saw upma recepie . U used urad dal also. Is it necessary to use urad dal in making upma? Can we make upma without using urad dal , adding only chana dal ?

  • @MrsBhawnakhanna1 : Yes, you can.

  • Your presentation is fantastic and having forgotten curry leaves happens just due to the excitement of explaining it to us. However, could you please enlighten us as to which sequence of the cooking should it be added so that the optimal flavor of that wonderful leaves can be absorbed to the fullest extend? Thanks!

  • @jaytee184 : The Curry leaves go into the oil, right before or after the Dry Red Chilli and flavor the oil which in turn flavors the whole dish.

    :)

  • you indians have such interesting recipes.. im starting to fall in love with indian food after watching these videos even though i don't know how this food tastes :) but it sure looks tasty to me

  • the upma i set out to make has now turned into a completely new possibility; but being a smoker i do not mind some extra carbon in my food.

  • @joshibiz compaired to alot of Indian cooking it DEFIANTLY is. LOL My husband is from Chennai and Im doing my best to learn to cook the way he likes. As an Irish American .. I can tell you... Indian food is FAR more complex than anything in America but all that preperation and stages makes a HUGE diffrence in flavor. I will never look at american food the same way again. Blah.
