1954 Hungary vs. England

On November 25 1953, Hungary took on an England team that included Stanley Matthews, Stan Mortensen, Billy Wright and Alf Ramsey and defeated them 6-3. In a stunning display of football, Nándor Hidegkuti scored a hat-trick and Ferenc Puskás scored twice. After the game a rematch was arranged as a warm-up for 1954 World Cup. The return took place at the Népstadion in Budapest and Hungary put in another impressive performance, winning 7-1.

The Hungarians invented the football which involves off the ball movement, the dutch improved it in the 70's

But was the Magyars and Puskas that revolutioned the game, they did this for many sports to, and also made the first ever underground, electric train, first cinema's.. Hungarians very clever race of people.. and had most per head for nobel prize winners :)

@Calinn86 Hello from Ireland. Great English, friend - kudos to you. I think Fifa corruption and greed has ruined our beautiful game. I'd love to see Hungry rise again - they really modernised the game. Possibly the greatest team of all time. Romania used to be pretty useful as well but FIFA have sucked the life out of the smaller countries and teams. Its nice to watch all the retro soccer and see how the game used to be - AWESOME.
