  • Thank you so much for this video; I have shared it on my own blog and on Facebook (giving you credit and links, of course).

Mr. Maybury, I have been reading your Uncle Eric books and EWR Report since my senior year of high school. Your writings have been indispensable in forming my views on politics and economics. I'm 25 now and far more cynical and suspicious of government than most of my peers, and I hope what I've learned has helped open a few more eyes to the mess around us.

  • I appreciate your (give them an exit/excuse) strategy, but some people pursue political office because they are already "snakes"; and if your words were to fall upon the ears of all the snakes--those that were, prior to, AND those that were corrupted by power, you might just appeal sufficiently to the once-good snakes that they will exit office and leave room for more of the innate slitherers...

Damn! I sure am a pessimist. Is there an historical precedent that can confirm me as pessimist?

  • @EducatoriumEuphorium ....I know what u mean.., yet this is Exactly What Here(in this article) has been Done. "laying out one heck of a strong case"!! So...., don't stop, till u get thew it , to the last word....

  • @tepstolog

Well, I started reading your article, and I like looking at the history of it. But they're going to have to lay our one heck of a strong case to make me think Friedman, Hayek, etc. are fascists....

  • @EducatoriumEuphorium I see... Listen; If u want a truly informed , publicly largely unknown information on F. Hayek , u should Google this exact title: " The Legacy Of Friedrich Von Hayek: Fascism Didn't Die With Hitler" . U will learn here all there is to know about these type of fraudsters. As well as theirs mode of operation , in detail.

as for G.E. Griffin goes...: He is a member of the Joan Birch Society.., meaning, hes a professional dissinfo agent in short...

  • @EducatoriumEuphorium economic power is not the corrupting factor. saying that power corrupts is like saying guns kill... it is not the power doing anything, it is the people using the power. my argument is that the people in power who are corrupt are not corrupt because of their power, but that they were corrupt beforehand and then took power watch?v=kRpsbkYsdeE

  • @tepstolog

    What?

Austrian economist FA Hayek wrote a book denouncing feudalism in its title, "The Road to Serfdom"

G Edward Griffin, author of Creature from Jekyll Island, believes Austrian Economics is the CURE to feudalism...

    I don't understand your logic.

  • @sunshineuk1965

Because America is the most powerful bastion of a SEMI-free society. If we fell fully into statism, the only free societies left would really be Hong Kong and Switzerland!

  • @Ayvean

Doubtlessly economic power does corrupt, but in a libertarian society (which we don't live in) no private citizen can use force on another person. This is the essence of the libertarian political philosophy, that power corrupts because only those in power have the privilege to initiate force. Even some of the most honorable men, the Founders, were corrupted to an extent by power. This video is true!

  • I'm glad to see that a lot of people here can tell that this guy is wrong. Power does not corrupt, it is corrupted individuals that receive power... and its just not political power like he says, but economic also. It is often easier for those in economic power to get away with things in a country like the u.s. because it is often through the back door. This video sounds like propaganda to me.

  • Political power is an instrument like a gun. Guns don't kill, people kill. I think that IF there is a serpent within an individual, political power will bring it out. Those who try to do the right thing end up dead! The corrupting influence on political power is economic power. Nathan Rothschild said "I care not who makes the laws as long as I control the money." The ultimate answer is to KILL THE SERPENT, starting within ourselves and then in the world.

  • I would like to ask - and I ask this with all due respect to our American friends - why this unspoken premise that America SHOULD survive. No one was saying it was against the natural order of things when the Soviet Union disappeared, why is it a given that American CANNOT end. States come, States go. If the Roman world power crumbled that is simply how the cookie crumbles. The End of America would not be the of all life on the planet. Why is it presumed a BAD thing?
