  • Thanks! I've been looking for this one. I lived across the street from Jim Babjak's record store when I was in college. He's a cool, regular guy.

  • You are welcome! I wanted to put one of their lesser known songs in a video. By the way do you anything about Mike Mesaros, and why he left the band? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  • Great tune. One of my favorite bands. Saw these guys this summer - Loved the show. THIS is Rock 'n Roll! Thanks again NC.

  • You are welcome! The Smithereens bring back some great memories for me back in college in the late 1980's. Nobody else had a video for this song posted so I decided to do one. I am quite glad that you like it!

  • Great song. I've got the Beauty & Sadness ep from around 1988 somewhere. Heard it first as a live version on a bside of a single off the 1st lp (can't remember which track I'm afraid).

  • The drumming sounds like that of "Tomorrow Never Knows" by the Beatles & "Joe Public" by the Rutles. I like this band, unfortunately it took me 25 years to discover them!

  • thanks 4 posting! One of the best bands from the 80's! One of my top 5 favorites from them, the others being "strangers when we meet", "behind the wall of sleep", "blood & roses", "crazy mixed-up kid", & "house we used to live in". Something about this band that strikes a chord with me & very few bands from an era of great music & talent can do so. Their sound has a unique deepness that just speaks to me and their lyrics make me stop, think, and listen. As a group, the band had chemistry!

  • A friend and I were just discussing our favorite Beatles Album (Revolver) and the best song from it (Tomorrow Never Knows) when I remembered Dennis mentioning on the liner notes that he "borrowed" the drum riff from that song for this one. Thx for posting!

  • there was a time when this song really spoke to me. thanks for the post.

  • Maybe Id seen your face, a long long time ago

Maybe Ive kissed your lips, baby I just dont know

The minute I start my day, the moment I open my eyes

The second I think of your face, the minute that I start to cry

Maybe youll never belong to me, baby Im wondering why

Beauty and sadness, beauty and sadness

  • Teardrops behind your mask, its as fragile as porcelain

A beauty that could not last, a lover Id never been

Whenever I see your face, traces of tears you cry

I think of the love you lost, I suffered, inside you died

Maybe youll never belong to me, baby Im wondering why

Beauty and sadness, beauty and sadness

  • Jim B. said he's been getting a lot of email from NC people lately so they'll have to put NC on their next tour. :)
