Well as long as you don;t accidentally install an update for another region (for example us updates on a Japaneses wii) you should be a okay.

Should I really try to use homebrew? I am afraid, I don't want a brick!!!!

I just ordered the new Wii Sports Resort (JP), and I should have it by sometime late next week. If it works, i'll let you know, and it'll prove the higher firmware does fix it.

Getting back to you, I tried Wii Sports Resort, and happy to say it fixed my Wii and unbricked it. The settings are fixed. A video of proof will be posted soon. Get Wii Sports Resort for your region, and your Wii should be fixed.

The new video is up, if you want to see the results.

We've come to terms that we need to wait for a 3.5 Firmware to come along and override the 3.4U. It'll come in due time.

Found out it's bricked. Found out a solution to fix it too. :D
Gonna work on it tommarow. Hopefully with the combination of the Any Title Deleter for Homebrew, and installed a Japanese update, things should be back to normal.
